If your district uses Canvas as their Learning Management System, then you’ll be glad to see that your Canvas users can easily add their media from their MyVideoSpot account into a Canvas assignment. Below are the steps to set up the integration and how to create an assignment using media from a MyVideoSpot account.

District administrators can add the MyVideoSpot Media app to their district’s Canvas or individual users can follow these steps to add the app:

Add the MyVideoSpot Media App to Canvas

  1. Login to your Canvas account.
  2. Click Admin on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. Now, click Settings.
  4. Within the Settings section, click the Apps tab and then the + App button
    .
  5. Add the MyVideoSpot Media App by inputting this information:
    • Configuration type: By URL
    • Name: MyVideoSpot Media
    • Consumer Key: blank
    • Shared Secret: blank
    • Config URL: https://live.myvrspot.com/xml/config.xml
    • Click the Submit button.

Create an Assignment

Now that the MyVideoSpot Media app is connected, when you create an assignment you can pull media from your MyVideoSpot account. To do this, you will click the MyVideoSpot logo in the WYSIWYG editor. Follow these steps to create an assignment using media in your MyVideoSpot account:

  1. After you login to your Canvas account, begin to create a new assignment by clicking the + Assignment button.
  2. In your new assignment window, there is a full WYSIWYG (What You See is What You Get) editor with the MyVideoSpot logo.

Not seeing the logo? You may be using a different version of Canvas. Instead, look for an icon in the editor that looks like a plug. Click on that and select ‘All Apps’ and then choose the MyVideoSpot Media app. In the future, it will list the MyVideoSpot Media app on the list when you click on the plug icon so you won’t need to go into All Apps each time.

  1. Clicking on the logo will open a popup displaying all your MyVideoSpot media. Click the Insert button on a piece of media to add it to your assignment.
  2.  Now you can finish creating your assignment with the media item pulled from your MyVideoSpot account.
