Background
MyVRSpot, LLC dba MyVideoSpot, has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy, and in particular our pledge to ensure the safety of our student users. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices of the MyVideoSpot application.
In general, MyVideoSpot automatically gathers usage information like frequency of users to certain areas, number of log-ins, number of reports completed, etc. We only use such data in the aggregate. This collective data helps us determine how often certain areas of the site are being visited so we can improve the site to make it as user friendly as possible. We use your assigned access level to deliver content specific to your interests or position.
During a teacher or administrator’s registration for MyVideoSpot, we ask for some contact information. We use this contact information from the registration form to verify your status as a teacher or school district employee and affiliation with a particular school, district or educational institution. This is done to protect the safety of our users. Registration information is also used to contact the user with information about our company and updates to the MyVideoSpot Service.
We do not disclose personal information such as your name, address, email address or telephone number to any outside companies. But as mentioned above we may share aggregated information regarding the overall use of MyVideoSpot.
Student Safety
MyVideoSpot supports the efforts of CIPPA and COPPA to insure the online safety of children. Accounts on the MyVideoSpot system are provided only through a qualified school or educational organization. Schools receive a master account which enables them to create accounts for student users. Accounts can also be created though integrating with the organizations LDAP, GSuite, Azure, or SSO solutions. Schools should obtain parental permission before issuing accounts to students.
We meet the following guidelines listed below and agree to:
1. NOT collect online contact information without the consent of either a parent or a qualified educational institution. Without prior parental consent, online information will only be used to respond directly to the child’s request and will not be used for other purposes without prior parental consent. 2. NOT collect personally identifiable offline contact information. 3. NOT distribute to third parties any personally identifiable information. 4. NOT give the ability to publicly post or otherwise distribute personally identifiable contact information. 5. NOT entice by the prospect of a special game, prize or other activity, to divulge more information than is needed to participate in the activity.
Sensitive Data
MyVideoSpot takes data protection seriously, implementing several mechanisms to safeguard sensitive information. We employ encryption to protect user data both in transit and at rest, ensuring that unauthorized parties cannot access confidential content. MyVideoSpot also has a data breach response plan in place, which includes steps for containing breaches, notifying affected parties, and improving security measures based on lessons learned. Additionally, the platform adheres to data retention policies, keeping user content for a specified period after account termination before securely disposing of it.
While MyVideoSpot strives to protect user privacy, it’s important to note that end users have the ability to upload and share data on the platform based on their user access level. We encourage teachers and administrators to take personal responsibility for maintaining the confidentiality of their passwords and being cautious about the content they share.
Google Directory Services
Google Administrators have the option to build and provision accounts via Google Directory Services. Google Administrators must grant access to MyVideoSpot, and this access can be revoked at any time by the Google Administrator. This access allows MyVideoSpot to build MyVideoSpot user accounts and update users information with subsequent logins. We only use the data in Google Directory Services as it pertains to building, updating and authenticating user accounts. A Google Directory Services Integration is not required.
Google Drive
Users have the option to add files from Google Drive to their MyVideoSpot account, and also push files from MyVideoSpot back to their Google Drive account. After linking Google Drive to MyVideoSpot, MyVideoSpot has permission to do the following: to access the content in a user’s Google account, to create a copy of a user’s selected files, and to stores the user’s copied files in their MyVideoSpot account. MyVideoSpot does not analyze, use, or share any user content or Google usage data. A Google Integration is not required and only serves as a benefit to end-users.
Google Drive User Data
For this functionality, we do not retain any Google user data. When launching this tool, an end user must give permission for our service to access a user’s Google drive, and we can access the file chosen by the end user.
End users can remove the link between Google Drive and MyVideoSpot by going to My Account, and click Unlink Google Drive.
MyVideoSpot Privacy Policy Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy we will post those changes here so that you will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information, and whether we will disclose it to anyone.
